1977 Quarles Harris VP on WTSO for $74.99

WTSO

Seems like a pretty good price, but I don't recall having had it so can't say whether or not it's worth it. I did grab 4, though, just to be safe. :)

Sounds expensive to me. I bought Dow and Graham for the same or less money...

Dow and Graham both have ... issues ... in 1977, so their prices are suppressed. But even so, they're $100 on winesearcher. Taylor is $120. Fonseca is $150.

You see a lot of very low prices in the Boston area that aren't available to anyone else. MA won't ship in or out, so your experience doesn't really reflect what the rest of the country can get. :)

$75 might still be a bit high for QH, but that's only compared to the UK where it can be found for ~55/bottle in case lots. But their prices are always lower than ours.

I'd like to try the '77 QH; can't say I have ever had it. WTSO does not ship to MA. I would order more from them, but shipping to NJ, couriered to MA is not worth the hassle for anything under a case. Hopefully MA Governor Elect Charlie Baker will throw us a bone and repeal the law!

I don't find the Grahams to have issues, heat I assume you talking about? Dow has bottle variance and I have passed on the last few opportunities. I've turned down the Dow at $45 this year :munch: . Not worth the gamble; it was just under a case. Had '77 Graham twice this year and both were much better than expected. The heat is not impactful as it was years ago. Perhaps you can revisit '77 Graham soon!

Seldom do I see '77 Taylor or Fonseca for under $100; maybe a couple times a year?

All you have to do is come to Seattle - I'll open one of the ones I just bought! [friends.gif] If what my Dad told me is true, we'll be able to open a QH94 along with the QH77. I'm going to clean out his local Trader Joe's which apparently still has the '94.

I've heard both heat and VA on the G77. VA doesn't really bother me, but the heat does. Dow's I've heard both VA and TCA, neither of which bother me. If you see another case at $45/bottle let me know because I'll happily take that risk.

Moses,

I'm amazed that you'd even mention that a 37 year old Vintage Port is not a good deal at $75. :beat:

Premier Cru has Grahams right now for $80.
Croft is readily available for $75 and $80.
Smith Woodhouse, which I really love, is $79.
These prices are in the U.S., via the free version of wine-searcher. The average prices suggest you might find a few brands for less with a wine-searcher subscription. (I let mine lapse.)
