Ah, so it was you. I won't tell David you out bid him ;) LOL

I picked up a 1970 Warre's Magnum the other day.[/John - quote]

No worries about the outbid. Now that I know your handle on winebid I will try not and bid against you ;-)
The Niepoort VV is a "Holy Grail" bottle! Congrats!

Thanks David. Same here. I had a pretty high bid set, so I'm glad things didn't get too crazy.

I didn't know anything about it until it showed up on Winebid. I read a little here and the fortunately had Dirk's email address and he responded fairly quickly.

Sounds like we need an offline? :winepour:

Yes! I have some Niepoort Ports that would be a great match.

By the way, I am "taboose" on WineBid.

I'll keep a lookout David and not bid against you. I'm "borderboss" on WineBid (my cowboy action shooting alias).

After tasting the 1996 Smith Woodhouse 'Madelena' - really nice maturing port - I bought some. Decent price too, C$35 which is just under US$30. I'm happy, especially for this part of the world.

Happy New Year's to You All, and to my patient Mailmann, who started this week with the big Boxes again, after a Christmas break.

Three purchases this week
1) 2 Bottles of Niepoort 30 years, bottled in 1978, with I have been looking out for, for quite some time, and 1 bottle of the Niepoort Blansec.
2) 3 bottles of Real Comp. Velha Colheitas 1944
3) A mix of different older Tawnies

Smith Woodhouse Late Bottled Vintage 2002. I actually got a bottle of this as a present. Never tried this particular LBV before, so any thoughts?

I didn't exactly purchase this port, but I acquired a Barao de Vilar 1974 Colheita bottled in 2014. It was a gift from the French translators for my Pathfinder game. They are always finding me interesting and unique ports. This seems to be a very small producer and I can't find a single bottle note on the internet for the 1974. Should be fun to try sometime soon!

1945 Croft bottled in 1947. Let's hope this bottle shows the true brilliance of this vintage. The bottle we opened over Christmas was corked and a major disappointment. [beg.gif]

1 x Ramos Pinto 10 Year Tawny
2 x 2009 Quinta das Carvalhas LBV in 375mm bottles....no TNs on any LBV and only a few on their VPs (which the store also had). For $13/bottle just had to try.
Any Port in a storm!

20 Year Tawny's from Sandeman, Fonseca, and Offley (had a 20% off coupon which made them real cheap).
