NFL Conference Championships

Post by Roy Hersh »

Games next weekend:

AFC Championship Game: Indianapolis Colts vs. the New England Patriots

NFC Championship Game: Green Bay Packers vs. Seattle Seahawks

So who do you predict will make it into the Super Bowl ... predict the scores for each of the two games above.

Do I even need to say who I want and think will win the AFC Championship? The only thing that worries me is that Colts have Adam Vinatieri and he is gold at Gillette...

NE Patriots 31, I Colts 22

S. Seahawks 33, GB Packers 17

Would rather the Colts win, like Luck. Seahawks D looks too tough.

P.S. Dez Bryant: Looks like a catch to me--he had control, took three steps after catch and made a "football move". What idiocy to have a rule that would define that as incomplete.

And if you apply the rule logic to the Denver game, where the kick returner never had control, that's Denver ball on the punt return.

I confess that I have not followed this season at all. I only became aware of it through Glenn's hysterical ranting on Facebook.

Would now be a good time to nail my colours (yes, it has a "u") to the Seahawk mast?

Oops. I just noticed that the Patriots are still in it [dash1.gif]

Perhaps I'll just put a tack in the Seahawks for now

NE won't lost to Indy @ home. Can't see that happening. Although I'd love that upset, it would then spoil the best possible Super Bowl which I don't think includes the Colts.

While I think that GB would also find a way to beat the Patriots on a neutral field, I believe it is Seattle's destiny to do so this year. They are 25-2 at home over the past couple of seasons, which includeds playoff games. So nearly unbeatable. On any give Sunday ... that's why they play the games. GB is the toughest team Seattle will have faced 2x in 2015. The Packers have the best established QB in football, in Aaron Rodgers and I'd never bet against him, as long as GB's defense is so solid. But the 12th man of Seattle creates an absolutely crazy advantage for the home team. I can't think of any other stadium in the NFL where the fans NEVER sit down. If Green Bay does manage to find a way to get the crowd quiet, no less seated, they'd have a chance to win. I don't see that happening, albeit, anything is possible.

NE 31 - INDY 27

SEA 24 - GB 16

Roy, Tom Brady is not your hero? That's a tight line on the AFC game.

I think that's probably more a commentary on the NE defense than Tom Brady. They were #9 rush defense, and #17 pass defense last year, which doesn't bode well for slowing down Andrew Luck.

I hope that the Packers can make it... but as Roy says, it will be difficult...
To be honest: I don't watch a lot of NFL - the only sport I follow with complete dedication is soccer...
But sometimes, these two sports intermingle and something good comes out of it... interesting article in the Guardian some days ago:

Seattle/Green Bay seem scripted out of a Disney Movie ending--even that 2 point conversion was ridculous. Incredible---what a collapse by Green Bay; what amazing stuff by the Seahawks.
