NY Times Article

Post by Marco D. »

Looks like today's (Jan 10, 2007) New York Times has an article on Madeira, which prominently features Mannie Berk and the Rare Wine Company. Not too much info most people who visit this forum don't already know... but it did mention that the Rare Wine Company will be coming out with a new Madeira in their own RWC series -- A "New Orleans Special Reserve" which will be released this month.

Unlike the other wines in the series (which retailed at about $40), this wine will retail for about $60 (proceeds from the sale will go to post-Katrina culinary and cultural activities). I wonder the the blend is...

The new bottling sounds like a winner already
About 25 percent of the New Orleans blend will be terrantez, an extremely rare grape almost but not quite wiped out by phylloxera in the 19th century.
can't wait to try it.

I am meeting Mannie for a great Madeira tasting in two weeks as I head to NY. Here is the article ... even if you don't have a subscription:
