TN: 2006 Monte Tonodo Recioto di Soave Classico.

Post by John Trombley »

2006 Monte Tondo Recioto di Soave Classico - Italy, Veneto, Recioto di Soave Classico (4/3/2015) WineBid, $15/375 ml

rated 92 points: Tea-green-yellow; cork-finished; quick tearing, viscous. 14 pabv.

Nose: searching sweet tea, white stone fruit, and lacquer, minted/savoried dried peaches and/or apricots, perhaps a little bit medicinal, sort of like a minor Chartreuse: white grapes, spicy, earthy, with gentle white pepper and a tiny bit of heat. Reminiscences of old-time anesthetics, such as a jot of ethyl ether. Perhaps some tertiary suggestions, that the experienced will probably recognize.

Sweet, with a little bite of white tannin; .white soy sauce; slightly bitter-Italian finish, fine length, with some heat that will blow off. Needs perhaps another 3 to 5 years to settle down a bit.

Yes, indeed, Mahmoud. It was an automatic post from Squires/Advocate, but it went whither it would and I didn't notice that. Thanks. I have editing to do and will move it at that time, probably later today. Have you ever had any experience with sweet Soaves or with sweet white wines like Maculan Torcolato or the like?

No worries, I zapped the one posted in the Portugal wine forum. Sounds like a lovely wine, BTW.
