Quite a bit of bottle stink when first opened; this seemed to have been in bottle for several decades. Decanted for about three days, which really helped clean up the wine. Soft on the palate, with caramel, toffee, nougat and chocolate flavors. Moderate complexity, but the texture is a bit round and the acidity is not as piercing as I would like. Enjoyable enough, but nothing profound. (87 pts.)

Marco,

Did you get the wine in the US? How would you characterize it on the sweetness/richness scale?

I picked it up in Portugal last year. It was a technically a bit on the drier side, but the lack of acidity made it come across as softer and sweeter.
