BLOG of TOUR

Post by Roy Hersh »

I am putting this here so the likelihood of more people seeing it. I need your input.

in less than 72 hours I'll be back in PT again, this time the ONLY fortified wine, will be the Moscatel de Setubal. The other four regions we visit don't have much in the way of dessert wines, with only one example, if we are lucky.

Do you care to read about what we will be doing during visits to non-Port producers in other parts of the country?

If so, where would you suggest I keep a running "blog" of the experiences we're having?

Roy,
I certainly want to hear about where you are visiting. It distracts me from winter I am now in  I think the "Other discussions" section would work fine.

cheers

Yes please post.

Maybe we'll forgive you for not posting about the Madeira trip recently :beat:

Yes, absolutely, please do post!

I'd say that any of these would be suitable locations:

Portuguese Table Wine
Portuguese Travel, Food, and Offline Planning
Other Discussions

The first one really seems like the best place for it, since this tour sounds like it's concentrating on wine and not Port/Madeira.

Ok, will do. I will find a better home (another forum) for this. It is a trip on which I believe I will see very little sleep, so please bear with me. [shrug.gif]

Now to go pack, yes it is 1:00 a.m. so I can be ready to depart for the airport at 3:30 a.m. stay up for the flight to Newark, endure a six hour layover and then sleep most of the way to Lisbon and awaken to Portuguese daylight. [berserker.gif]

Thanks for the input!

The "blog" of the 5 Regions Tour will be located in the Portugal Travel, Food & Offline Planner forum.

Marco, I will be staying in the center of the city, a few blocks away from the Praça do Marquês de Pombal, on the Avenida da Liberdade, in the former parish of Coração de Jesus and in the quarter of Santo António. I won't be there for long. We have a LOT of ground to cover in a week.

You arrived at a great time, the Feast of Saint Anthony. I hope you are not too close to where they have the Marchas Populares, which happens tonight on Avenida Liberdade. Lots of noise, well into the night.

Have fun (and grilled sardines)!

Marco, on the recent Fortification tour, we stayed close to the Praça do Marquês de Pombal when Benifica won the Portugal cup. They had set up celebratory stands there. Getting back to the hotel, we had to get out of our taxis a block or two away just to get back!

The same will happen this evening. I know it will be even wilder here tonight. I am rested and ready. [d_training.gif] :winebath:
