Personally, as a traditionalist, I hope the Selo de Garantia remains on Port bottles, forever!
Roy, I am also a traditionalist, but my timeline is, perhaps, a little wider..

I see the selo as an awkward interlude, and a somewhat embarrassing one at that. Symbolic of past mistakes, and in itself achieving nothing of worth, I really want the trade to move on..

I can understand your logic, Tom. I for one, like the good old Selo. Maybe it is just me. [friends.gif]

I like the selo. It makes it a lot easier to find Port in a wine section, and I think it makes the bottles look classy.

That's really the only reason I like it. Though I know it's a pain in the a** for producers to have to deal with on a bottling line.

But care must still be taken - a Selo on a Portuguese wine does not a Port wine make...
