2015 production levels for Madeira
Madeira's Regional Secretary for Agriculture stated that there would be an increase of 500 tons of grapes in 2015, (over the level of 2014) and it should reach 4,500 tons overall.

Good news, but shows how pitifully small production is.

Even when just compared to Port. That is quite sad, for now.

I was just wondering how much of Terrantez is expected to be produced. I saw a report on TV about conversion of vineyards to noble varieties and a new Terrantez vineyard of H&H was shown. Hopefully it will go up this year.

I don't know of the H&H Terrantez, that would be interesting. Still not much planted or produced on the island. Faja dos Padres has a little over 500 vines of Terrantez that are now producing and the juice is pretty tasty from this young vines planted about 5 years ago. Eric and I both tasted the production of the first leaf grapes and it surprised us both. It keeps getting better too, the 2011 in cask.

500 vines doesn't seem like a lot, but the average harvest of Terrantez is something like 1000 liters/year. Not much.
