Yes, that is likely. It is one of the top 3 Port clubs in the country and arguably the best of all. Certainly the most active.

Peter owns a restaurant with a great wine list.

Warre 1981 LBV (unfiltered)

Part of an ex. lodge stash of old LBVs collectively bought three years ago. Not long after, one of the bottles (not from my share) was opened at an offline and was, frankly, shot..

Browsing in the cellar for 'something different' last night, I realised that I'd never got round to opening any of mine, so popped a bottle, but with little expectation..

What a lovely wine this is - perfectly mature but with plenty of life left, complex and elegant. Considering how written off this vintage was, and my previous encounter with this wine, a huge surprise..

I wish more Ferriera was available here. I've purchased a few different '77's but am somewhat leery given the cork situation plaguing this vintage (all shippers) . A real shame as the ones I've had so far have been wonderful.

Weekend port opened : 1995 Fonseca Guimaraens Vintage Port, so far we have liked all the 95's with several more to go.

Was it leaky - or had crusting round the base of the capsule?

No crusting, but the cork was protruding about 2 mm. Showed well, but not among the top tier of my experiences with this Port. Still youthful, but not the depth and balance this can sometimes show.

1997 Niepoort VP, 375. I didn't notice VA per se, but it seems fairly muted.

There are very few sound original corks from this bottling, but some late released bottles appear to have been re-corked. Do you think your cork was original?

I opened a Canais 1992 this weekend, my first encounter with this port. I was pleasantly surprised.

All of my T77 appear to have sound corks, and as far as I know all of mine are original release not late release.

I bought it on the secondary market, but have no reason not to believe it was recorked. US sourced and I'm guessing probably not late released.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: (From inside>out) Dark, dark brown, dark purple/red, ruby, tan and white/clear

Nose: Cinnamon, prunes, spices, cherry

Taste: Cherry Juice, some oak, spices like nutmeg, bright flavor of sweetness followed by mellow acidity

Finish: Low acidity, alcohol, light dark fruit
