Who are your 3 favorite producers of LBV?

Post by Roy Hersh »

When you go out looking for LBVs to purchase, what are the names at the top of your list?
Ambition driven by passion, rather than money, is as strong an elixir as is Port. http://www.fortheloveofport.com

Crasto - I still believe their LBVs are the best value of any port, in any category.

Smith-Woodhouse - Love the fact they hold back LBVs and release them with a bit of age. Wonderful wines.

Niepoort - I agree with John, tough to find but excellent LBVs.

Last year i drank one Smith W. LBV 2002 and i was surprise because it was really good. Probably my best LBV. Because of this LBV i'll now buy LBV for later (5-10 years).
Taylor Fladgate and Ramos Pinto are Good too.

Fonseca, the 2008 is our house port. ~$20
Smith Woodhouse, more expensive and harder to find, but we like it.
Q. do Crasto, holds the #3 spot for now. Testing continues :winepour:
