Help needed on this Madeira

Post by Andy Velebil »

Please, can someone inquire with their contacts on the Island about this 1800 Madeira that is cropping up in decent numbers given how old it is supposed to be. This FTLOP thread in the market place forum has all the info and pictures.

Met with Ricardo Freitas of Barbeito today, and we discussed this very wine. He believes it to be legitimate, the date is probably an estimation, but the wine is of the period. Barradas is an old grower family. It probably is Verdelho. Most likely bottled by Silva Vinhos, an old partadista, infamous for using cheap bottles and labels.
