Not really ready to open this Wine, But I had to figure out, if it was a fake bottle.

It was'nt
very smooth, lovely nose, a little sweet and creamy. Just the Way I like them.

Had it saved for Roy some day being back in town [help.gif

People were port thirsty today. Had to open 2 additional bottles. A Kopke 2011 LBV and a Vieira de Sousa 10YO Tawny.

1977 Rocha Colheita. Bottled 2000. Sublime and better than my bottle opened in 2015. Now just one left of the original bunch.

Not really a Port, but Portal's 2000 Moscatel do Douro Reserva.
Beautiful red gold color with the aromas and flavors of Moscatel, but the structure and mouthfeel of Sauternes.

Monday - a Malvedos '61 as part of an informal tasting to celebrate Derek T's 51st - won WOTN against a good field that included a very young G70, which came in 3rd behind the much under-appreciated Gonzales Byass '70..

Tuesday - a Croft '63 from a stash that I've had for yonks - this wine just gets steadily better, with no sign of going over the hill, unlike many 63s...

Coming up - a Warre '85 - a wine I've not drunk at home for a few years now, to be followed by the first bottle from a rough stash of Offley '72, acquired last autumn..

Drank a 2004 Dalva Colheita Tuesday with a friend. At 15 USD it was a nice little wine.

Spur of the moment visitors...opened a

2000 Niepoort Secundum
1994 Warre's LBV
2003 Warre's LBV

All showed quite nicely, especially in a pop and pour situation. WOTN was the 1994 Warre's, firing on all cylinders. I've had this a few times before and every time it just comes off like a VP IMHO.
Any Port in a storm!

Boys night yesterday. Me and my Best buddy!
The Fonseca showed wonderfully, bit the Directors Port, bottled in 1971 (and matured in oak 'nearly' half a century) was a monster of a Tawny.
This is the third time for me with this Martinez, and it truely is an amazing port!

What?? You drink something other than interesting Ports?? Just teasing, of course, that you had a Pomerol in the picture. Glad to hear they showed well!

Opened a bottle 1999 Noval LBV. Never had one before and had a couple of bottles sitting around. Is holding up in the decanter quite well after 2 days.

Yes Bradley, on special occasions I drink other beverages.... The Pomerol was fresh and fruity.

Tonight....again something special. I have been hunting this Moscatel for some time. With an old IVP seal, so well over 40 yeats old.
First time for me...looking forward.
The house of Niepoort shows it ability of making different wines.

For Derek T's birthday a couple of weeks ago I opened a bottle that was labelled as Smith Woodhouse 1947. This evening I opened a splendid bottle of Noval 1970.
