I just realized i still have both a 1991 Ficklin port as well as a 1993 Beringer Cab Sav port in my cellar. 1990's domestic port taste-off! Lol

I'd hazard a guess the Ficklin is still good and the Beringer...well, maybe have a backup or two just in case

Last had the 91 Ficklin a couple of years ago. Still vigorous, but just starting to go down.

A handful come to mind:

Same as Eric, the 10 year old by Ficklin, and also a 1991 vintage port they made that won the top award for an entire wine competition I was judging at in CA.

Also a very fine bottle of 1994 Heitz "Ink Grade vineyard" vintage port.

2006 Roxo Cellars Tradicional Ruby vintage port was right there with the above 1994.

Last but not least: n/v Miller Wine Works Teodoro port - Sage Canyon Vineyard Ruby Port

Funny thing, I am currently drinking an Israeli port that a winery sent over (I still don't know how it got into the USA) two different port types. The first was really good, I just poured a glass of the other bottle (a month or two after drinking the other). I have not taken the first sip yet.

I am not usually a contrarian, but,
1. I have never liked Ficlkin, ever. I have tasted it many times over the last 40 years. Sorry [imnewhere.gif]
2. I love the 1977 J.W.Morris, having tasted several times over the last 39 years. I still have 5 bottles and am looking forward to opening each one, but no time soon, it still tastes very fresh and lively. I have put it blind in 1977 Vintage Port tastings several times and it has done consistently well. Always in the upper half of the group.
3. I am also still enjoying the 1995 Carmenet. It also is still getting better. I brought it to the 1994 Retrospective tasting.
4. BTW, still looking forward to the 1966 Retrospective this year. Date?????

Well, I can't say I've had Quady's, but I have to give them credit for coming up with a name other than Port:

I recently had a 1979 Mount Pleasant Fine Tawny "port" from Australia. I am not sure when it was bottled but suspected to be from around 2002, give or take a few years. The descriptoin on the back label indicated it was a Solera type fortified from Cabernet and Shiraz grapes. Had to be the best Cab/Shiraz blend fortified I've ever had. I was pretty impressed by it. No idea what it costs but it was tasty.
