1931 Quinta do Noval
A very good friend and LT collector of Port wants to sell his only remaining bottle of this VP. He's owned it for over 40 years. He wanted $6000 and I told him that he'd never get more than $5000. So although it is a bit much, so is the Port. If the Nacional is worth $10k, this is certainly worth half. I have zero financial interest ... unless you need me to taste test this for you.

$5,000 seems to be in line with current UK retail. I'd be very interested to know if this bottle, with its excellent and known provenance, sells.

Will do Alex. He's a great guy and is very generous but now selling some of his old blue chips that he still owns, but has tasted many times over the years. I felt $5k was a reasonable asking price for him. I also realize it is not the kind of bottle that many people can simply say, "ok, i want that and just need to make the connection." He is not going to have an easy time selling it for a price that he'd deem worthy of letting it go for. Then again, I can't blame him. There really aren't that many 1931 Noval bottles around anymore. Even 10-15 years ago, I saw these with a bit more regularity at special events. Nowadays, very rare moments and I never take them for granted when they arise.

Have only had once and I don't foresee drinking another one any time soon. It did live up to the hype FWIW.
