NV Niepoort VV Tawny Port
Old bottling from the 1960's.
Colour: Dark caramel
Nose: apricot, orange, almond, polish
Palate: rasin, plum, citrus, walnuts, cinnamon, leather, dentist.
My friend said: the taste is like Mont Ventoux.
This is the most complex Portwine I have ever had. So powerfull, deep and old.
Simply amazing.
Had a Niepoort Vintage 1942 as second bottle....It was beautiful to, but not even close....
Niepoort VV old bottling: 99 points

Having been to the top of Mt. Ventoux on a hot and hazy day, I'm really not sure this is a good thing.Allan Engelsted Laurents wrote: My friend said: the taste is like Mont Ventoux.

I do have a question, and perhaps this is just something lost in English, but what does "dentist" taste like?

The tasting notes are all 5 of us chipping in, and the 'dentist', came from my sweet girlfriend.
Clove oil, is used in the dentistworld, as an antiseptic.
And she tasted clove in the port...
Mt. Ventoux....the Nose and taste just getting better and better or higher and higher..

Ahhhh, thanks for the clarification. I wasn't familiar with clove oil in dentistry!

Re: Niepoort VV
Yes, thank you for the explanation. My imagination was of something like when you are getting your teeth cleaned, which isn't particularly nice.
Re: Niepoort VV
This is one of the wines that would be on my "port bucket list". I too was surprised by "dentist" on the tasting note, but quite like the quirky description. Sounds fabulous.
