And strap in for some of the potentially finest Washington Reds yet in 2005 - i.e. cab/merlot-97 & syrah-96.

Most of WA winemakers are agreeing...

I guess 2005 was a good year all around all over...I picked up a whole buncha German Rieslings which are great also in 05

I'm really curious how 06 will come out tho since I got married last year... gonna need to pick up a whole bunch of port and
assorted stuff to celebrate thru the years. :)

But spare a thought for all those poor port drinkers who are only now seeing the 1996 Malvedos and Bomfim and Vargellas hitting the shelves.

According to the WS chart, these SQVPs are now past their peak.

What rubbish!

Whats interesting is they give an overall vintage score to 2005 Ports...

Have 2005 samples been sent out already??? Considering the 2004 have just barely been released in the past few months.

2005s will not be available as cask samples typically until March/April. Fortunately, a group of us will be there in May to try some as well as the new crop of Douro reds.

If I recall, in the Decanter website, 2005 has been listed as a five star year for VP for 6-months or so now. Wonder how they decided that?

Jay,

I'd have to guess the deft use of a Ouija board, most likely.
