Douro Whites - What are your go to's?
Currently, I have been digging Douro white's more than reds. What are you picks under $30?

Some of Niepoort's mid and lower end whites are really good.
I love the Symington's Altano Branco, but they don't import that very inexpensive white to the states.
Casa Ferreirinha Planalto Reserva is very good.
Quinta do Crasto Branco rocks.
Other than that, they are somewhat hard to find around me. I can find other regions of Portugal much easier, so tend to drink more of those at times.

Will look for all of those. Niepoort dry wines are hard to find actually around here. You'd figure they'd be selling big time, but no is into carrying them around Boston. Casa Ferreirnha is actually a more common Producer on the shelf around here.Andy Velebil wrote:Some of Niepoort's mid and lower end whites are really good.

I dig all of the Loureiro based wines I have tried so far.

Another one for Casa Ferreirinha, and Niepoort of course (couldn't you buy online?), but for value I've always found Lavradores de Feitoria to be very good, as well as the whites of Real Companhia Velha. Contraste by Conceito is also relatively good value.

Forgot to mention the "Passa" white from Quinta do Passadouro. Fresh, well-made, very affordable.

MA may have some the lowest liquor prices in the World (including no sales tax), but most online sites won't ship to MA; regardless if it's legal or not.Ronald Wortel wrote:Another one for Casa Ferreirinha, and Niepoort of course (couldn't you buy online?), but for value I've always found Lavradores de Feitoria to be very good, as well as the whites of Real Companhia Velha. Vallado has been showing much better in its last release. Harder to find, Muxagata is great and cheap.
