Dec 6, offline in Los Angeles - RSVP asap - updated 12-05
Roy is coming to Los Angeles so that means we need a gathering of Port lovers. We will keep it to about 10 people. The restaurant has amazing food and are known for their dry aged steaks, so come hungry and thirsty.
Dinner on Tuesday December 6th.
THEME:
Any Port (Vintage or Colheita) older than 1980. If you would also like to bring a table wine that is ok as well as it would be nice to have a least a few to start the evening off with.
WHEN:
Tuesday, December 6, 2016
LOCATION:
555 East American Steakhouse
555 E. Ocean Blvd.
Long Beach, Ca 90802
http://www.555east.com
TIME:
5-6pm arrival
Dinner will start promptly at 6pm
COST:
We have a $90 per person "food and beverage" min., which isn't hard to do once everyone gets an appetizer, meal, and whatever else you want. Each person is responsible for their own bill.
CORKAGE:
There is no charge for the first 12 bottles we bring, it's $10 per 750ml thereafter. Whatever we go over, we can all chip in and split it.
PARKING:
The restaurant valet is actually on Linden Ave., about 1/4 block north of Ocean Blvd. The front entrance of the restaurant is also on Linden Ave. You really can't see it very well from Ocean Blvd, even though it has an Ocean Blvd address. Valet is $8 if you aren't using Uber/Cab/Walking.
HOTELS:
There are a number of nearby hotels, so take your pick if you need one.
Please RSVP as soon as possible.

Pencil me in while I look into flights, etc. A lot will also depend on the results of my last interview, so we'll see.

Confirmed! Found a flight on Virgin for $117 round trip. I know, right? Crazy price!
I'll work out bottle details with you offline, Andy. Looking forward to the trip!

Thanks for organizing this Andy!
I'll figure out if I am going to ship my wine/Port down ahead of time.
I hope you can round up some of the usual suspects in your area for this, too. I miss some of those characters.

I plan on shipping:
1- 1973 Quinta Santa Eufêmia Porto Special Reserve White
2- 1977 Warres, or Gould Campbell? Or 1970 Graham (which seems more up Glenn's alley)? I also have 1970 Fonseca, but I've had two corked now from that purchase, so I'm leery.

BTW, took your advice on the upgraded economy class for $25 one way, so now I can check a bag. Cheaper than shipping! I'd misread the site before when thinking it was $50 to check a bag... the website automatically assumes you'll want to check it both ways at $25 each.
