1985 Calem vintage port

Post by Rune EG »

Purchased recently at the wine monopoly in Norway. Cork looked very new and indicates that this port has been recorked. Very little sediments. Last quarter of the bottle was consumed after ten hours, and the results was the same as after 7 hrs. I have limited experience with Calem vintage ports, and this was a positive surprise.

Decanted 7 hrs. Very dark red colour. Deep rich aroma of berries and raisins and some prunes. Full body. Taste is smooth, powerful, concentrated ripen berries, nice tannins towards the end. Acidity at the very end in an acceptable way. Well-structured vintage port. Long, pleasant aftertaste. 93 pts.
