1961 Krohn Colheita

Post by Eric Menchen »

2013 bottling.

Aroma of mahogany and some sort of deep root sugar. Don’t swirl too much, as this reveals some solvent character. Sarsaparilla? Root beer? Dark candy sugar, Belgian dark candi sugar aroma. In the mouth, sugary syrupy, and it continues to be “deep.” Reminds me of much older colheitas, in flavor and sugar complexity, but still has nice acidity to balance. The acidity is building. Initially scored 95+ points. Later there were aromas of horehound, wintergreen, and some other exotic herbs like bog myrtle or bogbean. 96 points.
