Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
1x Bulas 20 Year Old Tawny Port
1x 2011 DR LBV
4x Dow's 10 Year Old Tawny Port @ 14 USD / btl
6x Dow's 2002 Colheita Port @ 17 USD / btl
The Dow's were sold at close to 50 % discount, which is why I stocked up a bit. Nice to bring to Christmas parties and I have run out of my stock of 20YO Ferreira as my every day port. Time to try something new.

Of course gifts do. They're the best way to get Port :)Edward J wrote:Do Christmas presents count? I got a very cool Port gift box. Graham's Selection of Finest Ports. 5 20cl bottles, Fine White, 2009 LBV, 6 Grapes, 10yo, 20yo Tawnies. In screw cap bottles filled in 2015.

Not this week, but my last purchase of 2016:
11x 375ml 1997 Smith Woodhouse VP
This was an auction purchase, and I'm sometimes leery of a lot of 11 bottles. But I've had this many times so I'm optimistic these will serve fine as daily drinkers for a while. They were only $13 each.

This thread begins it's 8th year (well, in April) and just think of all the Ports that have been rePORTed here as purchased. All the new Port lovers that have joined in and become a part of the community, all the people they have shared Port with.
Yes, as Andy first mentioned ... many years ago ... "a slippery slope"!

Finally picked up something in the 2011 vintage... Figured I needed something, right?
Bought a case of 2011 Crasto LBV for $15 a bottle at local Costco. Probably all gone by now as it was a one shot deal for them.

Nothing - absolutely no port purchases for three weeks now. I am so proud of myself. Will 2017 be the year in which I actually open more bottles than I purchase?

Yes. Julio's did a pre-order back in the early fall, it was a long list from the 1930's to present. Whatever people actually ordered they then acquired. They just came in this week. They didn't get any extra. I do wonder though if this means the local importer has more in the warehouse.

A few of the big stores in MA do a Kopke offer once year. Try Blanchards in Allston. They had some old Colheita for give away prices; not sure if they sold them all or not.Mike K. wrote:Yes.
