Was lucky this week as someone in Montreal pull a real treasure from his cellar for me, Harvey's 1820 Port.

1978 Krohn's Colheita. Bottled in 2004 and starting to get that cloudy aspect now, but still tasted wonderfully.

1996 Quevedo Colheita.
Re: What have you opened this week?
It was a tough week of all Vintage Port drinking, last Sunday in Los Angeles, (Bel Air). While I did not open these, I was the official photographer and one of two scribes, the other from WS mag. All were opened by the owner, with Port tongs ...one of the world's most renowned Port collectors. He brought 3 of each of these, except with the oldest VP here, where there were 2 and otherwise, in come cases he substituted mags for 750s. Absolutely the best Port tasting I've attended since the one here in 2013; both I'll never forget. It will be written up in the newsletter and for The World of Fine Wine magazine and will also be written by a different journalist, in WS.
Here was the list in order of consumption by flight, starting with 40 year old youngsters and one outlier:
1977 Graham's
1977 Taylor
1977 Fonseca
1997 Quinta do Noval Nacional - sent by C. Seely for this event
1947 Sandeman
1947 Taylor's "Special Quinta"
1947 Cockburn's
Mystery Port Magnum - turned out to be a 1948 Graham's
1927 Rebello Valente
1927 Tuke Holdsworth
1927 Croft -magnum
1927 Sandeman
Champagne break in the action. A great palate cleanser!
1927 Graham's
1927 Warre's
1927 Cockburn's
1927 Fonseca
1927 Niepoort
1927 Taylor
1867 Sandeman
From there I went to a friend's home for a wine dinner and to watch the Oscar's which took place only a few miles away. Small crowd with eclectic yet excellent bottles and figuring there was a need for a dessert wine, I brought a bottle of Krohn's 30 year old Tawny for this group to sip on during the last 3 awards.

Re: What have you opened this week?
I helped out with a BBQ class over the weekend, and took a bottle of S. Leonardo 40-year old with me to share. Several of the students were really impressed and one said he was going to start buying Port! I think I spent more time on Saturday talking about Port than I did talking about BBQ.
