NV Andressen 20 Year Old Tawny Port

Post by Glenn E. »

Served at the 2nd meeting of the Sammamish Port club. This bottle was carried back from Portugal by Sandy and Ruth after the 2010 Port Harvest Tour.

Andressen 20-yr old Tawny Port
bottled 2009

Color: Medium tawny, clear and clean. "Looks like a 20-yr old" was a common theme.

Nose: 2nd best nose of the 6 bottles. Light caramel, light vanilla, some confectioner's sugar. Pleasant and enticing. Lighter and airier than most 20-yr olds.

Palate: A little heat, but a very nice body. A relatively easy drinker; well balanced with good acidity and good sweetness.

Score: 92 points. 2nd overall for me behind the Ramos Pinto and very slightly ahead of the Vallado.
