Got as gift from friends 10 years ago. I have only this bottle left of Sandeman Vau vintage.
Decanted 5 hrs. Plenty sediments at decanting. Medium red colour with clear hints of brown. Aroma dominated of raisins, humid cellar and some berries. Medium body. Smooth/elegant, some power, raisins, wet wood and some berries. Dryness towards the end. Structure could have been better. Medium length aftertaste. Drink up. 88 pts.

Re: 1997 Sandeman Vau vintage port
This is pretty much at the mature end from a 750ml bottle, at least from what I've had. Mags (and larger formats) are still holding up a bit better. That all said, I agree with your review of this regular bottle.

Don't forget, when Sandeman released this Vau 1997, they were very upfront about it being their experiment to produce a Vintage Port that would be more approachable throughout its youth and teen years, but was never meant to be aged for the long haul. The fact that it has lasted 2 decades is a credit to the Portmaker!
