1977 Fonseca Vintage Port
Tasted blind. Smells of tangy brown wood, cedar closet, leather, and dried old eucalyptus–but not too assertive. Wonderful Port cellar wood aroma. Tastes quite nice—a little simple and thin, but what's there is very good. It has flavor to match the age of the aroma, and later there was even more wood in the flavor. 93+ points.

Re: 1977 Fonseca Vintage Port
Thanks for the notes Eric. The 1977 Fonseca is sentimental because my bottle of '77 was signed by Bruce Guimaraens when he visited Edmonton many years ago. It was then, in Edmonton, at a Fonseca tasting that he declared the 2000 vintage while we were tasting it in our glasses. Naturally I am pleased to have a few bottles of that vintage in my collection and now they too are sentimental.
