When was this day? Last bottle drank was a '99 Noval LBV; so that would have to be it...

Yesterday (Sept. 10th). It was all over my Facebook feed, though I haven't seen reference to it anywhere else.

Every day is port wine day - or at least it was for Jeanne Calment, until she died in 1997..

..she was 122 years old

Opened a 2005 Noval LBV "in celebration". So far, it started off better than the '99. Not has rough a spirit taste.

+1 I didn't hear anything about it prior. I'll open something this week most likely. I haven't opened much of any Port in a bit as this summer got super hot and humid. I can deal with the heat but the humidity really put a damper on any wine drinking. Cold beer and cocktails were the order of the month. Our humidity is now finally declining and so is the heat so I'll get something open soon.

The last time someone tried to create a special day for port, they managed to select Jan 27th - the Holocaust Memorial Day, remembering when Auschwitz was liberated - it was not a clever choice..

This time they've chosen the Gibraltar national day, the Chinese teacher's day and the World Suicide Prevention day.. - OK, there's probably not a day in the calendar that doesn't clash with some sober memorial..

But is a single spurious day with no historical significance really worth selecting for port? Personally I think not..

Just keep taking the medicine - and not just once a year.. [cheers.gif]
