2007 Leone D'Colline Della Rosa Vin Dolce

Post by dave berg »

I wouldn't ever put in a new note on a previous tasting except this one was exceptional and much different from my TN in 2016. Coming from an Italian in the lower Yakima Valley Wa., the properly don't call this a 'port.' Nearly opaque blackish red color. Notable licorice and maybe dark cherry, to me a bit mysterious. Heavy, rich, sumptuous, sweet, but with a nice lingering alcoholic bite and maybe some tannin. The nose was great, as I could really 'drink' it with my nose--as an experience in itself---for me an unusual quality. I think anyone is unlikely to find this 2007 bottling, but lucky me, I have 2 more and will love to see what 10 more years brings to this. It's exceptional, but a word of warning--I opened one a few-several months ago, and it was slightly stale, and ordinary.
