NV Vieira de Sousa Very Old White port 40 years

Post by Rune EG »

The official statement from the quinta is that this white port is “more than 40 years”. The Danish importer is stating “more than 50 years” on their web site. Foot trodden.
Decanted 1.5 hr. Medium amber colour. Aroma of citrus, ripe peach and oak. Full body. Powerful and superb elegance, citrus, oak, peach. A rich white port, and taste is indicating a very old port. Powerful all the way. Touch of bitterness towards the end. Long distinct aftertaste. Perfect in combination with rich white cheese. 95 pts.

Website in English:
This porto is a very special wine produced by our family decades ago ... It has aged in small toneis of 5.000L for more than 40 years ...
In Portuguese:
Este porto branco provém de um lote unico, com mais de 50 anos de envelhecimento ... Foi envelhecido em tonel de 5000 L por mais de 40 anos ...
The second sentence is pretty much the same, more than forty years. But the first sentence is rather vague in English, but in Portuguese says it has aged more than fifty years.
