1900 D'Oliveira's Moscatel (bottled unknown)
This wine really exposes my sweet tooth. Not cloying, even with low acidity.
1954 H&H Terrantez (bottled 2008)
I think that I have found my desert island wine.

Re: What Madeira Have You Opened This Week?
Gary,
Is the 1922 as good as I remember?
I have been able to acquire this wine on a couple of occasions. I got the first bottle at an absolute steal and it was superb (though my overall Madeira experience was very limited at the time). I think Liddell rates it 5*..."a reference wine". When I went back to the same merchant for the second bottle, he had realized his mistake and I had to pay retail...still worth it. I want to say this was back around 2008.
I have one bottle now. Another wine merchant was going out of business due to the recession. The store had been picked clean of my faves, but I always ask, "Do you have any vintage Madeira?". To my surprise, he emerged from the back with the 1922 and a 1937 D'Oliveras Sercial. I was able to get them at his cost from his private wine collection.
I have dedicated the 1922 for a grand opening in 2022 for my 65th birthday. No better celebration that to sip 100 year old wine. With hope, I will celebrate retirement with a different Madeira before that.
Best to you,
Joe D'Achille

Joe,
This 1922B is the best bottle that I have had. I thought that previous bottles did not quite live up to Liddell's review. This bottle may have benefitted from longer time in the bottle.

So I post that and think, "hmm, I haven't searched in a while, let's see if there are any out there."Glenn E. wrote:Love that one! Hard to find, though.Eric Ifune wrote:Rare Wine Company Imperial Malmsey by H&H
Lo and behold, I find 3 online at... are you sitting down?... $40 each. Needless to say, there are none left now.

On Thanksgiving, opened the RWC New Orleans Tricentennial Reserve. This is the new version with Bastardo.

Re: What Madeira Have You Opened This Week?
Nice. Still not a patch on the original with 10% old Terrantez.
Re: What Madeira Have You Opened This Week?
Justino’s Old Reserve 10yo. Very impressive and rich for a 10yo.
Re: What Madeira Have You Opened This Week?
At Thanksgiving, I opened a handful of bottles, but the one that I have had the least number of times was the 1933 Justino's Malmsey. Loved it and would buy more but the price is now ridic.
