1982 Dalva Colheita port

Post by Rune EG »

Bottled 2015 = 33 years at the time of bottling. Decanted 2 hrs (will benefit with 2.5 hrs). Clear, transparent amber colour. Quite strong aroma of apricot, citrus and minerals. Full body. Powerful and elegant, which is a good start. Citrus and tannins/dryness are coming on at mid-palate. Rather rough style including some alcohol in the taste. Quite strong acidity towards the end. Medium length aftertaste. Disappointed of this bottle as we have had others at 93-level. 88 pts.

Do you think this was suffering from being in the bottle too long? Or just an off bottle?

It should take 3 yrs in a bottle without problems, so I was surprised.
I lean towards this bottle being "off".
Have one more 1982 Dalva and one 1982 Presidential, so need to check them out.
