The 2011 Alves de Sousa vintage port is a fantastic port and we have enjoyed many (and stored many). When the 2015-version is also getting good scores, we had to find out ourselves. This vintage port is originating from two Alves de Sousa vineyards; combining the richness and concentration of Cima Corgo’s Oliveirinha with the elegance of Baixo Corgo’s Gaivosa.
Decanted 8 hrs which appeared to be fine. Dark purple colour. Intense and very nice “big” aroma of dark red fruit with hints of floral notes and some wet stones. Full body. Powerful and elegant. Fruity in quite a strong way and the fruit was clearly present all the way throughout the tasting, and with minerals in the background. Nice tannins. This port has a well-balanced acidity/sweetness. As for the structure it is good at the moment waiting for it to settle down. Medium length aftertaste. Would have preferred it slightly sweeter towards the end. 93 pts.

We tasted there on the PHT2. Loved both the 2011 and 2015.
