Hope everyone had a safe and fun New Years. Did anyone open anything for the new year?
I didn’t have any Port on NYE, but on Sunday Eric I. was over and he brought a very nice 1968 D’Oliveros Boal (along with a lot of very nice old wines from the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s California, France and Italy).

Opened a 0.375 of 2015 Fonseca Guimaraens. I am now without gums
That one packs a punch though you wouldn't have guess from the nose which is quite delicate. Bold flavours but the aquadente has yet to proper integrate with the juice. Tremendous value for money port at the price I paided. On par with many other young vintage ports I have tasted recently. Good thing I have 5 more 0.375 and a regular case as well. Might end up being one of the best bargains I've made on young VPs. This for sure will last 30 years before it peaks.

I opened a Quevedo 40. Really nice 40-yr old that's even pretty reasonably priced... when you can find it!
