2015 Quinta da Leda Douro. Decanted 5 hours consumed next 2. Just a stunning wine that has a long life ahead of it.

I have heard that this is great... but the 2016 is supposed to be better. Do you have any opinion on that?Andy Velebil wrote:2015 Quinta da Leda Douro. Decanted 5 hours consumed next 2. Just a stunning wine that has a long life ahead of it.

I have a couple of those. My wife's birth year (I didn't tell you that!). How was it showing? Mine are half bottles.Eric Ifune wrote:1962 JM Fonseca Moscatel de Setubal.

Mine are 500 ml bottles. Drinking quite nicely, dense and rich. Mine were bottled in 1997.

Oh... yes. Mine are 500ml. It doesn't exactly have a bottling date, but there is something that alludes to 97. Imported by Broadbent.

2009 Quinta do Crasto Reserva Old Vine. 3 hr decant. Best bottle in some time and if they all were like this holy cow. Far better than the 2010 Vintage of this.

It's my first from a six -pack that was lost in my offsite cellar. I thought that it was really well made. Absolutely a Douro Red. Still a bit rustic and that's probably not going to go away. Really excellent with my steak dinner. Amazing? no. But very solid. I did not have high hopes for this wine, and was happy. I believe that you got yours from me

Drank it the day after purchase, popped and poured.
Nice balance. Not a heavyweight by any means. Good fruit. Worked well with leftovers. Good price point.

What Portuguese wines have you opened this week
We need a forum for fortified Portuguese wines other than Port and Madeira.
Opened a bottle of Moscatel de Setúbal. A recent bottling but still had a ton of sediment in the bottle. I decanted off most of it into another bottle and then poured the last of it through a wire mesh filter into the glass.
It’s just a wee bit murky, but still tasty. And chewy. :)
If you drink much Moscatel de Setúbal, you should be able to guess the producer. After a few guesses I’ll make the reveal.

Correct! Eric gets a virtual drink.Eric Ifune wrote:Horacio Simoes?
The bottle was a 2009 Roxo.
I completely forgot to ask while visiting them why some of their bottles throw such epic muddy river sediment.
