I like your thinking, but it won't be shipped until next Monday. And I think I'm going to save this one and work through some of my 375s and 750s of 2011 first.

My haul from PHT2:

1906 Brunheda Colheita
Brunheda Armazem de Cascais Tonel #4
Brunheda Armazem de Cascais Tonel #3
1964 Brunheda White Colheita
2 x Brunheda 40 Year Old Tawny Port
2 x DR L70
DR Very Old White Port
2 x DR 40 Year Old Tawny Port
1964 Messias Colheita
Viera de Sousa Very Old White Port

Sadly, the Pocas Quinado did not survive the return flight. :-(

And from the pre-tour, I picked up 6 bottles of Kopke including 3 x 1987 Colheita, but I can't remember what the other 3 are! Might have been 2 x 1952 and 1 x 1966 Colheita? They're in transit via Iberomail.

This is a great food Port - pairs well with just about anything short of hearty red meat.

I packed it in my suitcase inside the sturdy wood box it came in, with a sock stuffed into the box with it to fill up the remaining space and keep it from rattling around in the box. Yet somehow it still broke in the box and leaked all over the clothes that I'd wrapped the box in. No long-term damage to anything else in the suitcase, but the Quinado was a total loss.

In looking at the remaining shards of the bottle, they looked awfully thin. Thin enough that I suspect it was a flawed bottle in some way and not any fault of the packing or the luggage handlers. That bottle wasn't going to survive much of anything other than extremely gentle handling and storage.

Lisa's bottle made it back fine, packed the same way except without the extra sock for padding. Yet another indicator that my bottle was simply too fragile to survive shipping.

Bummer! It does sound like it was a flawed bottle.

Glad to hear that worked. Did you just have them shipped from the store (Kopke?) in VNdG? I've been leery of that option, but may need to consider it next time.

Yep, exactly that. Lisa and I (and perhaps others) just handed them a business card, too, and they got all of the information that they needed off of that. (Name, address, contact email, etc.) It made the checkout process much smoother and faster than it has been in the past.

I like this vintage as a whole. While most VP’s are not blockbusters and are reaching or have reached maturity now, they have been very pleasurable to drink.

2 x 2016 Quinta da Romaneira VP. I bought these through an offering from the Garagiste website. It's the first time they've offered a Port since I've been a member. The price was just too good to pass up even though I've never tasted any of their Ports. 2016 is a good year so hopefully these are decent bottles.
