TN: Henriques & Henriques Malvasia purchased 1906

Post by Eric Ifune »

Henriques & Henriques Malvasia
Back label: Purchased in 1906 as an old wine. First bottled 1927. Recorked and rebottled 1955, 1969, 1991.
Originally 890 bottles produced. A reserve wine belonging to Mr. Miguel Jardim. Bottle number 226.
Immediately after opening and decanting:
Very dark bronze shot with gold and green.
Some bottle stink on the nose. Musky, classic Malvasia Candida. Pralines and tangerines.
On the palate, dense and rich. Medium weight with excellent intensity and acidity. Great balance. Limes, tangerines, hazelnut toffee, coffee on the palate. Very, very long. 94+ points. Will see how it changes in the decanter.

The bottle stink improved, but the wine stayed pretty much the same.
