I had many of these some years ago, but stopped buying them as they were showing signs of being “over the hill”. However, as they are easily available in Denmark at the moment, I decided to buy one to find out the status.
Cork seemed fairly new and the bottle must have been re-bottled at one stage. Decanted 2.5 hrs which we extended to 3 hrs in order to get rid of most of the unpleasant aroma. Medium redbrown colour. Tiny bit oxidized, but not disturbing. Aroma was at start dominated by something medicinal, but after 3 hrs it had gone. Medium to full body. Taste is generally better than the aroma. Powerful with some alcohol in the background. After more time it became silky in style, acidity clearly there, wood, overripe fruit (prunes), some minerals and hint of anis. Not to sweet. Long powerful aftertaste. 86 pts.

Re: 1977 Quarles Harris vintage port
I'm curious if there was two different bottlings of this, much like the regular 1963 Quinta do Noval. I ask as I've had noticeable bottle variation and the ones in the UK seem to get rave reviews at the moment.

Interesting to hear Andy.
The cork in our bottle looked like it had been in the bottle max two years.

Ok, thanks
I guess I'll have to try one of my bottles, as they are also from that source.
