Kean Family Madieras
Wondering if anyone on this forum would have any knowledge of the Madeira that was found at the Liberty House where the Kean family resided since the middle 1700’s.It was well published about the find a few years ago but never heard anything subsequent.I had actually gone to a lecture and tasting at the home(now a museum) but no one there gave any insight of the plight of the wine. What was explained was the various vintages, from 1780s through early 1900s ,producers, styles and bills of lading going back to 1760’s.The Family was very instrumental in the support of the revolutionary war and the new political group of our founding fathers.Kean College in Union NJ has owned the home for the last 10 years or so. I assume with the history of the family and their friend ship with George Washington, and the New Jersey congressional body the value of them must have been quite high.

Auctioned off by Christies New York almost exactly a year ago. They sold the demijohns and many of the individual bottles.
