30 Year Old Messias Tawny Port

Post by Andy Velebil »

Bottled 2015, bought at auction in recent past. The color is very light, similar to a light tea. It is also a bit cloudy given it's only been in bottle 4-5 years (depending on actual bottling day). Yesterday this was very light bodied. Simple honey with some saddle leather in the background and a short finish. Not very appealing. Today the acidity is showing more, there's orange peel and some toffee. However, it is still very light bodied compared to any other 30 year tawny I've had. Yesterday I was in the 82 point range. Today I'm in the 86 point range. I have no idea how this ever passed IVDP testing as a 30 year old tawny. Easily the worst 30 year tawny I've ever had. I certainly hope this is not a typical bottle.
