This Colheita is 20 years old and has 30 grams less sugar than the Kranemann
20 years old tawny (both bottled 2019). Significant difference in style between this Colheita 1999 and the 20 yrs old tawny.
Bottled 2019. Decanted 2 hrs, which was fine. The colour is impressing. Dark, but still transparent in spite of actually being quite redbrown in colour. Aroma of wonderful citrus in combination with nuts. Full body. Taste is powerful and elegant, “round” and having a touch of being “fat”. Oak, minerals and citrus, all in a very nice combination. Definitely a well-structured port with a nice sweetness/acidity-balance. Not so sweet. Long aftertaste. A port with a lot of complexity, but also easy to drink. Considered one more point, but ended at 94 pts.

Re: 1999 Kranemann Colheita port
I concur with Rune - the '99 Kranemann colheita is fantastic, not least at the price. I spent a day at the property in September, touring the facilities, tasting various port as well as still wines and whatnot. At the conclusion of the day, I carted away a few boxes of still and fortified wines, most of which I have now tasted, additional to those sampled during the visit. My notes have, for the most part, been typed and, as soon as I can find the time, I shall post a lengthy piece on the Kranemann operation here at FTLOP - I would expect rather soon, given that my professional life is rapidly grinding to a halt owing to coronavirus-induced hysteria.
