1997 Ferreira VP (375ml)

Post by Bradley Bogdan »

Past prime in the half, but also appears to have not been stored well judging from the shop in Houston it was purchased at, as well as the cork. It was only $14.99

Nose: rotting leaves, desiccated red fruits jam, baking spices.

Palate: stewed red fruits, moving into baked strawberry tart, and closing with a bit of dried leaves and baking spice. Moderate sweetness. Showing advanced age. Reasonably balanced.

Thoughts: This is somewhat of a balance of not being treated well, half bottle advanced age, and just being Ferreira and being more feminine to begin with. It’s fully mature, but not unenjoyable.

Badly stored bottle for sure. But price was cheap at least.
