SAMMAMISH PORT CLUB - JANUARY 2017 - Sammamish, Washington (1/27/2017)
  • 1987 Porto Souza Porto Vintage - Portugal, Douro, Porto
    Amber-brown in color. Red fruit with some touches of cinnamon and clove on the nose. Balanced red fruit on the palate with some cranberry and balanced acidity (93 pts.)
  • 1995 Porto Souza Porto Vintage - Portugal, Douro, Porto
    Purple with a touch of amber. A little black currant and some pomegranate on the nose. Strawberry on the pallet with expansive red fruit on the finish. Good acidity. (90 pts.)
  • 1997 Porto Souza Porto Vintage - Portugal, Douro, Porto
    Dark purple in color. Coco on the nose. Smooth intense dark fruit with black cherry and great body weight. Great finish. (91 pts.)
  • 1976 Krohn Porto Colheita - Portugal, Douro, Porto
    Amber-brown in color. Woody notes with some vanilla and some underlying tobacco leaf. Unctuous black tea and honey. Great acidity and long finish. (93 pts.)
  • NV S. Leonardo Porto 60 Year Old White Port - Portugal, Douro, Porto
    Bottled in 2016. Light amber with gold and yellow on the edges. Intense nose with notes of bourbon, some underlying tropical fruits, and vanilla. Honey and lemon on the palate. Very, very long finish. Great acidity (95 pts.)

For the record, this was a "60" White, not a "60" Tawny. (Which you can tell from Stewart's note with the underlying tropical fruits, vanilla, honey, and lemon.)
