A Covid-19 induced tasting. A friend and I each decided to open a 1985 Ferreira and split the bottles with a friend each and the 4 of us would then have a zoom meeting to taste together. We both decanted early in the morning (past TNs suggest a long decant) and it was obvious they looked quite different so we changed gears a little and made sure everybody had a little of both bottles. Mine was perfect, my friends was oxidized (loose cork, but no leakage) but still quite drinkable. I won't score the second and notes are on the good bottle only.

Brick red with center plum core, amber edge and clear. Cherry, leather and a hint of mint. Just a hint of pepper spice on the end. Lightly sweet ending that is long and slightly piquant. Marvelous and well made; if you pay attention to these rewarded with nuances with every sip. This is a gentle Port style, subtle and elegant.
