Is this quarantine becoming expensive for anyone else?
I am 5 weeks into this mess, and I’m noticing that I may be consuming a little more liberally than I usually do. Under normal circumstances, my wife and I share a good bottle of Port over the course of a week. I’m feeling like perhaps this quantity has gone up a bit. Anyone else experiencing this phenomenon? A good consequence is that with all of the extra time, I’ve had a chance to organize my cellar.

Yup. Lol! Luckily it’s giving me an excuse to drink down the cellar a bit...if only they’d stop replicating

When the quarantine started, I estimated I had 19 years of wine in the cellar. At this rate, I'm down to 17 now.

Which begs the question, at what rate? Also, where are you all purchasing during this quarantine?

No doubt my consumption is up. Helps to have two in the house that want it as well. Seems like every weekend we open something and I've really enjoyed that and I've been part of a few Zoom meetings over Port. On my own I rarely open a bottle; usually wait until getting together with friends and Port lovers.
Any Port in a storm!

I've been drinking off the cheap stuff as every bottle has been a pop and pour. I can't bring myself to open something from the 70's or older to just swig down. Well not just yet.

I've purchased a few bottles from my regular auction sources, e.g. winebid.com, to fill out a case for spring time shipping. I tried to finish out a case at Acker over the weekend, but lost out on a lot of five bottles of Champagne.Andrew Kirschner wrote: ↑Thu Apr 23, 2020 7:18 pmAlso, where are you all purchasing during this quarantine?

For me , the confinement has given me a reason to drink lbv's and tawnys ( my better half prefers these over vp or colheita
Of course , logically this gives me the port buying opportunities that are necessary to replenish the stock![YIKES! [yahoo.gif]](./images/smilies/yahoo.gif)

My consumption is up, but not dramatically so. My one daughter and her fiance as well as my daughter from college are back home sheltering with us. They'll have an occasional glass of port so that accounts for some of the uptick.Andrew Kirschner wrote: ↑Thu Apr 23, 2020 7:18 pm Which begs the question, at what rate? I'm also bidding on Acker, Brentwood Wine and Winebid. Occasionally, Spectrum Wine will have something at auction as well, but not as much as they used to have.
