Or Croft VP, which sometimes comes entirely from Q. Roeda..
Tom reminds me that Malvedos has been both!

If you look carefully, you'll notice that prior to (IIRC) 1999 bottles of Graham's Malvedos Vintage Port were labeled just like that. "Malvedos" was a 2nd label brand for Graham's, not a single quinta Port. Starting in 1999 they were labeled as Graham's Quinta dos Malvedos Vintage Port. A subtle distinction, but one that means that from 1999 onward all of the grapes used in the Port are from Quinta dos Malvedos itself.

Except that Graham's actually started doing that with the 2nd label "Malvedos" vintage Port some time earlier in the 1990s! (I've heard as early as 1987, so don't actually know for sure when.) So a 1995 Graham's Malvedos Vintage Port is labeled as a second label, but is actually a single quinta.

And then to further the confusion, Quinta dos Malvedos today is much larger than it was in, say, 1970. The Symingtons have purchased adjacent quintas over the years and have added them to Quinta dos Malvedos. Which means that a Port that qualifies as "Quinta dos Malvedos Vintage Port" today might not have qualified for that label 50 years ago.

Confused yet?

To clarify a little known fact. A SQVP does NOT need come from one estate, per IVDP rules. A portion can come from outside it. I forget the amount allowed. Will have to check.

Yeah that's what I was remembering, but wasn't sure. It's some percentage, sort of like how a "Merlot" in the US only needs to be 75% Merlot grapes.

Rumor has it that Quevedo is going to declare 2018 as well. Perhaps on the upcoming live stream?

Are they making both an Evramoira and a Bom Retiro? I have only seen news about the latter?

Anyone else noticing the similarities between 2018 and 1958?

A couple of top names declaring, and a good showing of second tier producers.

Not the exact same producers mind, and bear in mind that in '58, Martinez was a top label (sadly, their last really great wine before the brand was sold)
