Thank you everyone for your advice and great suggestions! I have made my first set of purchases and will come back once I have a better idea of what our Port preferences are.

Re: Need advice on what to buy for my Dad...
Hi,
Before I had received everyone's great advice, I had already gone and purchased a few bottles of Vintage Port. One of the bottles was a bottle of 1970 Taylor Vintage Port at auction. Given the state of the label on the bottle (see attached photo) and the fact there is no white paint, etc. I was wondering if this Port is real or if it could be counterfeit.
Thanks!
Matt

Hi Matt,
My opinion is that it looks authentic. It appears that the Port was bottled in the UK and shipped to the US. The fill in the bottle isn't perfect (very top shoulder), but the color is good and I don't see any seepage. You'll have a better idea of it's authenticity when your remove the cork. It's a great wine that is ready to drink now. Be sure to give it some air for a few hours in the decanter (if you have one).

That '70 Taylor looks authentic to me. Period correct label, glass, and foil.

Agree; label looks genuine, capsule also; slightly low fill (top-shoulder) is the only concern, but colour looks nice and dark, so fingers crossed this shows well for you.
