2016 Rozes vintage port

Post by Rune EG »

Roy Hersh placed the 2016 Rozes vintage port amongst the top 10 of all the 2016-vintage ports summer 2018. I purchased two bottles to check whether I have the same impression. It is a nice young vintage port, but I am not at his level of 96 pts. The port is now 4 yrs instead of 2 yrs, that could possibly have an impact.

Decanted 5.5 hrs. Will try 1-1.5 hrs more for the next bottle. Deep purple colour. Quite powerful aroma. Extreme ripe fruit (incl. blackberry) in the aroma with floral notes in addition. Medium body. Plenty fruit (incl. cherries) in the taste, round, very nice polished tannins. Well-balanced acidity/sweetness. A bit dry towards the end. Medium length aftertaste. Not really my style, I think. 91 pts.
