1985 Warre vintage port

Post by Rune EG »

Decanted 6.5 hrs. Medium red colour with a touch of brown. Fantastic combination in the aroma with sweetish berries and some minerals and oak. Full body. Powerful and elegant taste and the impression from the aroma goes further in the taste. In addition, the taste is giving some citrus, herbs and prunes and even hint of leather. A solid 35 years old vintage port. Long aftertaste of sweetish berries and citrus. A bit sharp towards the end, which is more than preferred. 92 pts.

This is a stable of the 1985 vintage. I really adore this specific port and have had it on numerous occasions the last 3-5 years. I think it is in a great place maturation wise but still with room for further positive development.

Not including the Fonseca 1985 which is no where near the maturity level of any other ports in the vintage, I rank the Warre's as my 2nd port just slightly after the Graham's. Really need to get my hands on some more of these. Only have 1 left.
