Port Wine Day
This is the 7th annual edition of the celebration of the creation of the Douro demarcated region on September 10, 1756, as declared by the IVDP in 2014.
What Port will you be drinking today to celebrate?
(Note: not International Port Wine Day which was created by the Center for Wine Origins and is celebrated annually on January 27. Port gets two celebrations!)

The 27th January idea was a very crass choice - being the International Holocaust Remembrance Day - the day Auschwitz was liberated in 1945..

Cheers John. The theme was "The Chairmen's selection". So myself and my co-chairman each got to select 4 ports for the tasting. I went with the Graham's, Vesuvio, Ferreira and W&K. They were served in 2 heats and we started out with the VP's.
The Fonseca won the first head by a fair margin where as the Vesuvio and Graham's were neck and neck. I know it is blasphemy but the Graham's is just so dang delicious at the minute. The Ferreira was straw yellow and tasted like a white port just without the sugar concentration and mouth feel. A very delicate wine that shouldn't have been served in that company.
In the tawny heat W&K completely obliterated the competition with its concentration, depth and complex flavours. The Burmester in second. A more refined wine that had an impressive amount of acid and was beautiful. Javali in 3rd, though for me is is just too sugary. The Kopke finished dead last. It was cloudy and not up to normal Kopke standards. Not faulty but I suspect a fresher bottling would have been much better as I have had this previously where it performed at a higher level.
A great re-start to our club as we hadn't seen each other for more than 6 months. We took all relevant precautions to be safe naturally.

Due to circumstances beyond my control I was not able to open anything
As soon as I can, I will, but may be a bit.
