Port selection for the debate: 1994 Dow’s

Post by Andrew Kirschner »

Decanted a bottle of vintage 1994 Dow’s At around 3pm for the debate. Glad I did, as there were three or four moments where I felt like shooting the TV.

This was the first 1994 I’ve opened. Very, very nice. Blackberry, black cherries, pomegranate- truly delicious. I suspect will be even better in 5 years or more. I’ve got two cases of 1994 Fonseca, and of this is an example of what 1994 holds them I can’t wait.

I started with a Graham’s 10 yr Tawny. Then went to a Weller Antique 107 Bourbon when it descended into chaos, LOL.

The '94 Dow's is good but the '94 Fonseca is light years better. I buy it every chance I get at auction when it's below $120 all in.

So I’ve been told- I’ve been holding off opening any of it for fear of plowing through it too fast!

Maynard's 20 year tawny is what I had for the debate.

I would have consumed the Graham's for more than five minutes.

So the Grahams last like 5 min?

I didn't even bother watching. I knew it was going to be a shit show and so didn't want to support the networks for staging it.

We watched a couple of episodes of Top Gear that we had on the DVR. Much more satisfying.

They do show up from time to time if you scout around a bit.
